True Beauty

*Quick Disclaimer* This post is not meant to bash makeup or the beauty community in any shape or form. I have been madly in love with makeup since as long as I can remember. I live and breath makeup, and I cannot imagine my life without it. It brings me and others so much joy, excitement and passion, but it is not what makes us beautiful.
This post took me a very long time to write. Not because I didn’t know what I wanted to say, but because I’m not made of stone. I’m human, and words can hurt me just like anyone else. It scares me to be this vulnerable, and being confident in my own skin is still something I struggle with daily. I have battled with acne since I was ten years old, and even though the worst of it is behind me, I am now forced to live with the scars. However, I’m so tired of sitting around and watching others say “You’re beautiful without makeup” … while they are wearing a full face of makeup or they have spent thousands of dollars on skin treatments. That is unrealistic and unattainable for most of the population. It seems contradictory to me, and I wish I would’ve had someone back then tell me what I’m telling you now:
Do not listen to the world when they tell you that you need foundation, lip plumper, fake lashes and concealer.  Yes, those things can be used as a tool, and they are a LOT of fun, but at the end of the day, it is not who you are.  Your character, heart, passions, humor, compassion, humility, etc… that is what makes you stand out.  Not the mask that we paint on our face everyday for society to deem us as beautiful.
I hope you can take my words to heart because this was a very challenging post for me to work on, and it has been tugging at my heart strings for a long time.  I also couldn’t do it alone.  This is a collaboration with my beautiful friend Alisantia!  Please head over to her blog to check out her post:

All my love,
