The Sun Will Rise

Every time I step into a store around this time of year, the red heart balloons and cute, fluffy teddy bears mock me.  They remind me of what I have buried deep, and tried my hardest to forget.  These trinkets are supposed to be a symbol of love, but I see pain.  All I can see is the inside of a hospital, and hear the words I’ve heard too much: “I’m so sorry for your loss.”  I can only picture myself standing at yet another memorial service, burying another loved one.  Maybe one day I will be able to once again participate in the festivities that this holiday brings, but for now, I will turn my head and walk the other way.
I apologize for the lack of positivity and inspiration in my words, but this is what has been heavy on my heart.  I also know that this time of year is very difficult on several people for different reasons.  Sometimes I think talking about our emotions is taboo, but it’s not.  You are allowed to speak out, and share how you are feeling.  You are allowed to hurt; just don’t stop moving forward.  Keep your focus on the positive things in your life, and never stop fighting.  This quote I am about to share is very simple, but it has given me some much needed peace.  I hope it does the same for you.
“Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise.”
